Arlington Quick Guide
Arlington, Texas sits midway between the larger Texas cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, but this mid-sized metropolis has a history and flavor all its own. And while the city shares its name with several other municipalities across the country - including Arlington, Va., home of Robert E. Lee, who inspired the name of this former fort town - with a population of nearly 360,000, it is the largest of them all.
Arlington was once a destination for those in the farming industries. Today the city attracts businesses from the automotive, education, entertainment and technology sectors. The city is home to a General Motors assembly plant, a National Semiconductor plant, and the University of Texas - Arlington, all of which are major employers.
The flagship park of the Six Flags chain is also located here, along with Ameriquest Field, home of MLB's Texas Rangers. And, an all new Dallas Cowboys Stadium is being built here as well.
The Arlington Municipal Building is located at 101 W. Abram St., and the Arlington Chamber of Commerce is headquartered at 505 E. Border St.
